Merci and her brother are on scholarship to a prestigious private school and must do community service to cover their tuition. So, they don't really fit in with their new classmates. And, when she's paired with a Sunshine Buddy at her new school who is also the love interest of mean girl Edna Santos, Merci must look out. At home, Merci struggles with her live-in grandfather and his increasingly forgetful ways. Merci must find a way to balance all the changes coming her way.
